Dip the bare end of a wooden match in some carpenter s glue and tap it with a hammer as far into the screw hole as it will go. Remove the screws that hold the loose hinge leaf to the door jamb. Tap the tee into the hinge screw hole with a hammer. Dip four or five wooden toothpicks into woodworking glue and then stuff them into the hole. Remove the loose screws. You can repair a loose wood screw hole for a hinge by inserting a dowel to reinstall the screw or by relocating the hinge so it holds stronger.

Allow the glue to dry. Hinge screws with at least two 3 in.
