Repair Door Handle Holes

Both auto body filler such as bondo and a hardener catalyst should be available at a large hardware store. Broken storm door handles are easy to replace if you buy the same kind but upgrading to a top quality brass handle as we ve done takes a little extra work. Take the handle off of the door. Expose the set screws on the door handle.

This type is found commonly on lever style door handles. If screws are already exposed proceed to next step. At first glance it appeared that this handle would fit in the old holes. If the knob or rose plate itself is screwed on with threading on the hardware there will be no screws to expose.

Remove the old storm door handle by unscrewing the two screws that hold the two halves together. Start out with about 1 teaspoon 4 9 ml of the auto body filler and half as much catalyst. Mix more as needed.
