You should see a tiny slot or hole.

Locate the hole underneath the doorknob shaft.
Straighten a paper clip and insert it into the hole.
Push the tip of a narrow screwdriver into the hole.
Step 2 straighten a large wire paper clip out and insert one end into the hole until you feel the spring loaded retaining pin.
Remove the plates from either side of the door and set them aside as well.
Look for pin holes in the rose or in the lever body itself.
Look for a recessed slot in the shaft of the handle.
So carefully insert the flathead beneath the plate and begin to pry the cover away from the door.
Keep in mind that you only need a very small amount of separation.
Against the door where that notch is located will be a very small section where you can insert a flat head screwdriver.
You should now just have holes in your door into which you can install a new door handle.
Look on the neck of the inner doorknob for a slot or hole between the back of the doorknob and the door.
If there s one present you ll be able to depress a button or loosen a small screw inside the hole to release the handle.
Apply a bit of pressure to the paper clip to trigger a release button inside the hardware.
If your door has no visible screws check the neck of the knob or lever for a small hole.
Carefully pull the latch plate and mechanism out from the hole on the inside edge of the door and set it aside.
Once triggered the lever or lock trim can be removed from the door.
